Located in the middle of the northern
Jiangsu plain, bordering the Yellow Sea in the east, and Huaiyang
in the west, Yancheng City has been listed as
a world heritage site with a native reserve containing David's
deer and national rare birds. The population in the urban centre
is more than 800,000. Today, the city is an important manufacturing
industry base for automobiles, textiles and clean energy.

On January 18th, 2008, in the presence of the Vice Minister
of the Ministry of Commerce, Guangzhou Yu, and the Rt.
Hon. John Hutton MP - UK Secretary of State for Business,
Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, China Water signed
the project contracts with representatives authorized by Yancheng
Municipal Government. This took place during the Sino-British
Industrial and Commercial Summit in Beijing during the first visit
to China of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. It helped to
illustrate recent major successes in promoting the commercial
co-operation of both countries. On May 8th, a grand launch ceremony
for "Yancheng China Water Company"
was held. Yancheng CW has been granted the Concession Right to
develop and operate water treatment and distribution facilities
which supply water to the domestic and industrial users in Yancheng
and surrounding towns.
Main treatment facilities consist of:

• Horizontal flow sedimentation
• V-Filter
• Water-air backwash
• Clean Water Storage
Yancheng CW has three water treatment plants with combined capacity
of 235 Mld. There are 925 Km of water transmission and distribution
pipelines and 550 employees. At present the company is planning
a water treatment plant expansion for another 100 Mld to meet
increases in the local industrial and residential demand. The
raw water is from two rivers named "Xinyanggao" and
"Tongyuhe".
On May 1, 2008 Yancheng CW successfully began its operations.
Yancheng CW will adopt the ISO 9001 quality management
system. In addition, the company will make improvements
in many areas such as:
• Automatic monitoring and control of water treatment plant and
network
• Improvement of the health & safety environment
• Emergency response planning
• Improvement of customer services
• Non revenue water reduction
• Energy efficiency improvement
• Use of information technology
• Staff training and performance management
