China Water prides itself on the close relationships it establishes with the communities it serves throughout China. The provision of water services is, of course bound to bring companies into close contact with their local communities but in China Water we aim to extend that normal relationship to many other areas in order to promote the true value of water as a precious resource, to educate the community on efficient water use and to help other less fortunate members of society. Each of our joint venture companies has a full and active programme of community related events which may include hosting visits by local schoolchildren to water treatment plants, giving talks and seminars to local community organizations, hosting visits from government officials etc. In addition we produce a range of brochures and educational material which is designed to support this programme.

China Water's head office in Hong Kong also has its own programme of activities. We have worked closely for several years now with the Hong Kong based charity, Changing Young Lives Foundation, which specializes in building schools and conducting education programmes on mainland China, particularly in the poorer rural areas. We have provided both technical and financial support for the construction of water and sanitation facilities associated with the new school buildings.

Cash contributions are raised through an auction at our annual Chinese New Year party celebration. Senior members of the company's staff, together with our business partners are requested to donate gifts which are then auctioned to the staff. All contributions made by staff are matched equally by China Water. We are very grateful to the following companies who supported our auction in 2010:
